Ahmedabad: Come on Monday and Rush passengers at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport (SVPI) in Ahmedabad will jump significantly.
The Ministry of Civil Aviation has provided a nod to domestic flights to operate at a capacity of 100%, effective October 18.
On average, 20,000 transit passengers through city airports and this number are expected to increase during the celebration season, suggesting the estimated SVPI airport, spokesman.
“We suggest all of our passengers to reach the airport far in advance for security checks because of the ongoing high warning situation,” spokesman said, in response to email requests from TOI.
Inticipating in a hurry, even travel agents ask their clients to reach the airport early, especially during rush hour.
“The majority of passengers at the city airport are traveling during rush hour and in a hurry are high,” said Manish Sharma, Chairperson, Gujarat Region, Indian Federation Travel Agency (TAFI).
“People have to wait in the queue directly from the entrance to the check-in and security check zone.” Sharma added: “Seeing the order we get, passengers in a hurry for the next few weeks will definitely increase and we ask our clients to report early to avoid unnecessary delays.” Airport data shows that the estimated flight movement during the celebration season has crossed 190 for a period of 24 hours, with 45 flights in the morning and 45 at night and around 100 movements spread during the day.
To manage passenger rush effectively, the airport authority said that they put additional steps in its place.
“Strict security and security measures have been further enhanced at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport,” airport spokesman said.
“We also have increased seating capacity in both terminals for a comfortable waiting experience.” There will be proactive queue management at the entrance gate, check-in, and security points while ensuring social distance.
Plans to mitigate the queue of the sidewalk edge vehicle applied and special airport executives will be deployed for unlimited passenger demand assistance.
“This team member will ensure fast but safe turnaround at all security checkpoints for a smooth passenger experience,” said the spokesman.
