Mumbai: Analysis of infection among health care workers at the Kem Parel Hospital shows that the population doctors are mostly affected by nurses.
Also, fewer health workers were infected during the second wave compared to the first.
The KEM Hospital that has served nearly 7,000 Covid patients recorded 1,110 infections among his staff since last year.
From them, 744 was April to December last year, 366 were detected until June this year.
Of the 744 cases last year, 30% were among the doctors and apprenticeship workers, 24% in nurse staff and 17% among class IV staff.
There were two deaths last year, but none of the people dealing with patients.
Dean Dr.
Hemant Deshmukh said that vaccination played an important role in minimizing hospitalization and death in the second wave, while in the first and clear communication and the rapid application of infection control practices helped curb infection in frontline soldiers.
The Department of Medical Community of the Hospital that reviewed 744 cases 2020 found that even though health workers were first tested positively on KEM on April 9, most cases were reported in May (179) and June (178) 2020.
Infection fell until August 100.
Initially, ratio The person who was quarantined behind every positive case at the hospital was 1:15.
“But things start to increase because we understand the method of transmission better,” said Dr.
Velhal, Head of Community Medicine.
It was found that high-risk contact from positive health staff was the sharing room, had food together, talking without a mask.
“When the practices of infection control are tried and quarantine norms are better understood, infection starts falling …,” said Dr.
Velhal.
Other medical colleges see the same decline.
