Paris: FIFA has invited domestic government agencies football to the online summit on September 30 to discuss controversial proposals to hold a World Cup every two years, not four.
This topic will be discussed by the FIFA member association as part of a plan to reform the international calendar.
“There is a broad consensus in the game that international match calendars must be reformed and improved,” FIFA said in a statement Monday.
“Following invitations to stakeholders, including all confederations, in early September, discussions were being held in the coming weeks.” FIFA also invited the association of its members to the first online summit on September 30, 2021.
It is one of several occasions to build constructive and open debates, at the global and regional levels, over the coming months.
“The proposal for the Biennial World Cup was revived in March by the former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger, now the head of the development of global football in FIFA.
The idea is to have an international tournament every year from 2025-2026, World Cup Change and Continental Tournament such as the European Championship and Copa America The world every two years will be carried out at the end of the year.
Last week FIFA published an online poll that claimed the majority of football fans supporting the idea of the “more often” World Cup.
The results of the survey contrasted with the opposition from many national support groups throughout the world.
