FIFA is set to implement rules where the club will be limited to sign and send six players with international loans from 2024 so that more focus can be given to develop talents, said the world soccer government agency on Thursday.
The purpose of the regulation, was postponed by two years because the Covid-19 pandemic, was to “develop young players, increasing competitive balance and preventing hoarding”, FIFA said in a statement.
The club will be limited to eight signs of international loans and eight loaned from next season, with a downstairs to the following seven years and then remain at six of 2024-25 and so on.
However, the homegrown player and those under the age of 21 will remain released from the rules, subject to approval at the next FIFA Board meeting.
The plan also includes the minimum duration of the loan agreement, which will be between two transfer windows, while the maximum duration will be one year.
There will also be a limit of three players on loan per season between the two clubs, while the “sub-loan” to the third club will be banned.
The regulation did not cover domestic loans but FIFA said the National Association would have three years to bring their own rules according to them at the international level.
