PARIS: Fifth seed Elina Svitolina recovered by a 2-5 second series deficit to beat French teenager Oceane Babel 6-2, 7-5 to create the next round at Roland Garros on Tuesday.
Svitolina, a three-time quarter-finalist at Paris, will face world number 75 Ann Li of the USA to get a spot in the past 32.
Li indicated with her French Open debut using a 45-minute 6-0, 6-1 demolition of all Margarita Gasparyan.
