New Delhi: eager to start the ‘institutional mechanism’ for the upcoming assembly selection in Punjab in the midst of disruptive inaccuracies in the state unit, Congress has set a September 30 deadline for the State President of Navjot Singh Sidhu to complete the electoral committee on the Central Leadership.
For each election, Congress countries prepared several panels such as the campaign committee, Manifesto Committee etc., which decided the vision of future policies and planned elections.
However, in Punjab, the confrontation between Sidhu and the Chairman of Minister Amarinder Singh has emerged as an obstacle in completing the process that marked the commencement of the polls campaign.
The sources placed well said AICC who was annoyed had told the state unit that it had to win the panel on September 30.
They are then sent to the central leadership for approval and liberation.
The main concern of the party is whether the state unit will involve various factions and leaders, to make participatory and inclusive panels.
It is felt that such an approach will extinguish the arguments and signals to the voters that the congress approaches the election seriously.
With the whole focus until now at the title ‘Sidhu versus Amarinder’, Congress really wants to participate by taking concrete steps towards preparing elections.
“We must announce the panel in the first week of September.
It is important that the state unit applies in front,” said a senior leader.
While the congress was sure to go to the poll in Punjab a few months ago, the outbreak suddenly by Disvenation and Faksionalmen created a crisis which ultimately leads to the appointment of Sidhu as Head of PCC.
However, failing to end the confrontation when Sidhu had focused his focus to criticize the state government and target the main minister.
Repeated efforts to bring two upper state leaders together have failed, raising concerns in leadership about party prospects.
Congress faces an aggressive campaign with AAP while Akali Dal also makes a serious offer to revive itself after the 2017 election disaster.
