Finally, Kerala Govt UPS spends social security

Thiruvananthapuram: The government has decided to release funds for the Ashwasa Kiranam project, which is deducted to complete the procedure to get rid of beneficiaries that do not meet the requirements, after extensive criticism of the non-thwarifying funds allocated.
In the latest order issued on September 3, the government has decided to release Hospital 40 Crore to beneficiaries, without waiting for the settlement of aadhaar linkage from the beneficiaries and production of life certificates, which are mandated to ensure that the benefits do not meet the requirements.
This project is intended to provide assistance to caregivers who are lying in bed or patients who are mentally ill / disabled.
On August 23, TOI has come up with a report based on the Planning Board data, which is only 9.6% of the total funds allocated for 22 social security schemes spent in the ongoing five months of financial year.
Toi has reported that the highest allocation among 22 schemes is for the Kiranam Ashwasa scheme for which Hospital 40 Crore is allocated, but no one is spent.
The opposition leader VD Sathean also criticized the government, and said that the lukewarm approach to social security schemes, especially in the middle of a pandemic, cannot be justified.
He had testified that some petitions looked for his intervention to get funds released under Ashwasa Kiranam to bring assistance to beneficiaries.
Meanwhile, from the spending of 9.6% a little for 22 social security schemes on August 21, the government has increased allocation expenses for social security schemes.
It has touched 25.8% as on September 9, which is also a bad expense done with the requirements of the clock.
After the order of Ashwasa Kiranam was issued on September 3, the government had spent Rs 19.35 Crore (48.38%) under this scheme until now.
However, there are still eight more schemes from 22, where there has been no funds that have been spent.
These include surakha cancer funds for pediatric patients, snehapoorvam (schemes to provide financial assistance to orphans living with family, with their relatives, friends, or support from the community), Sneha Sparsham (rehabilitation of unmarried mothers and their children) and Thalolam (free treatment for children under the age of 18, who suffer from kidney disease, cardiovascular disease, cerebral palsy, fragile bone disease) Meanwhile, Social Justice Minister R Bindu said funds under the Ashwasa Project Kiranam has been disbursed before.
“Maybe the command is released later, but the funds are disbursed before Onam.
Also, there is a delay uploading data in the planning board plan, because the expenditure is seen low,” he said.
