Mumbai: almost a month after the illegal structure killed 12 people, BMC on Monday appointed a commissioner of Municipal Municipal Full-Time (Ward Officer) for his Ward P-North.
Ward, which has jurisdiction over the malad where the illegal structure falls, is the most dense city, and does not have full-time environmental officers since February.
BMC on Monday moved the Assistant Commissioner of Municipal Makrand Dagrandkhair from e to counteract to the P-North Ward.
A C Prashant Gaikwad D Ward has been asked to accommodate additional E Ward costs.
Apart from Rejig, an important ward in the city does not have full time ward officers and as well as the removal of BMC from the Department of Envance.
With several wards in Mumbai functioning without full-time ward officers, and three ACs were promoted as Deputy Commissioner City (DMC) last week, BMC had requested an executive engineer and deputy head engineer to apply for work as officers.
Maharashtra public service commissioner has also opened the application to recruit officials at BMC.
While BMC issued an application that invited circular from several other levels of officers last week, the Public Service Commission also issued an ad that invited applications from candidates for the Civic Commissioner’s Assistant Post.
According to officials, BMC is now a shortage of five ward officers.
At present there are no full-time environmental officers at E Ward (Byculla), B (Mohammed Ali Road, Dongri) M-East (Govandi, Shivaji Nagar) and S (Bhandup) Wards.
Both executive engineers hold allegations of ward officers in the ward or assistant assistant commissioner from the adjacent environment holding additional fees.
Assistant Commissioner Sanjog Kabre was promoted as deputy commissioner in February and since then assistant Commissioner Santosh Dhonde from P-South Ward has held charges of P-North Ward.
