The corridor for Sikh Kartarpur Sahib pilgrimage was finally reopened from Wednesday almost after twenty months, ahead of the 552th birthday of the Master of Teacher Nanak Dev.
On the first day reopen the Kartapur corridor, pilgrims began to arrive at the beginning of the Integrated Inspection Post (ICP) in Dera Baba Nanak in the Gurdaspur District for Daily Pilgrimage to Gurdwara Darbar Sahib, Kartarpur Sahib, located about 4.5 kilometers in Pakistan from ICP .
According to sources, people who have registered themselves to make a pilgrimage to neighboring countries before closing while the Kartapur corridor is given a visa to travel through the corridor and previously informed.
Corridor Kartarpur was temporarily closed on March 16, 2020, to prevent the spread of the Coronavirus.
At the Chief Executive of Pakistani Project Management Unit Muhammad Latif along with Pembangia Sikh Pardwara President Ameer Singh Committee and other Pak Sikh leaders arrived at the Pakistani side of the Corridor Karttarpur to accept Indian worshipers.
“We have waited for a long time for India to open the Kartarpur corridor, finally the day has arrived,” said Latif while talking to Ti by telephone from Kartarpur Sahib.
As many as 70 Indian worshipers have arrived at ICP for old pilgrimage until the submission of this report.
On Thursday Chairman of the Minister of Punjab Chararjit Singh Channi will lead the Punjab Cabinet at the Kartarpur Sahib pilgrimage through the corridor and on the Friday Shiroman Gurdwara Committee President Bibi Jagir Kaur will lead another Jatha to Kartarpur Sahib to celebrate the birthday of Teacher Birth of Nanak Dev.
