Tokyo: The Japanese military said that Monday was looking for a combat jet that disappeared from radar shortly after taking off.
“The Jet F15 track disappeared from the Komatsu control tower data after taking off,” a spokesman for the Japanese wind defense told AFP.
The plane disappeared about five kilometers from Komatsu’s airbase in the Central Ishikawa region, in the sea of Japan, he added.
The spokesman said the plane was designed for up to two crew but could not confirm how many people were on board.
Japan sometimes sees accidents involving the Air Force, including in 2019 when the F-35a Demon Jet crashed into the sea after the pilot suffered a spatial disorientation.
The accident triggered a struggle for restoring pilots and secrets on the plane.
