Bokaro: The police on Wednesday submitted a maintenance officer of the ThyssenKrupp elevator company based in Vedanta Steel Limited and Germany in connection with the death of three workers, who died in an elevator accident at the factory on Monday night.
Three workers died and two were injured at the Vedanta ESL steel factory in the Chandankyari block on Monday night.
They work in lifts that have not been operating since the last four years at Blast Furnace-2 of the ESL steel factory.
The victims were at the top of the elevator that fell 29 meters to the ground killing them.
The families of the victims, the complainants, alleged negligence and safety deviations on the ESL section in FIR with Siyaljori police.
Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner Bokaro Kuldeep Chaudhary has formed a three-member committee to ask for the incident.
“Seeing the seriousness of the incident, the committee of the three administrative official members has been formed.
The Committee will visit a place in an ESL steel plant and investigate the incident and report this problem.
Based on this, the legal action needed will then be taken,” he said.
The committee was led by Chas SDO Dilip Pratap Singh Shekhawat.
He said together with him assistant commissioner of Labor Harender Singh and factory inspector Dhirender Singh Munda was on the team.
Shekhawat said NL Vhatte, CEO of Vedanta ESL Steel Limited, had met and gave him to the incident and assistance and compensation provided by the company to the families of the victims on Tuesday night.
“FIR has been submitted against ESL Steel Limited management and the TyssenKrupp lift company contractor and the other under the 304A / 34 IPC section,” said Chas SDPO Purosttam Kumar Singh.
Bokaro Superindent Police Chandan Jha added that “the police investigation will be carried out in the incident”.
An independent investigation committee has also been formed by Vedanta-ESL management for complete and fair investigations on all facts relating to this accident, said Shukla Shilpi, Head of Communication Company, Vedanta ESL.
“All of our management was very surprised by the tragic death of the three employees of the Thaisenkrupp elevator company in the place of ESL,” he said.
