KOLKATA: A significant fire broke out in a plastic godown at Central Kolkata’s congested Burrabazar place on Monday evening, a fire department official said.
No casualty was reported from the harbor as firefighters evacuated the building.
Altogether 10 fire tenders were pressed into service to douse the blaze that was detected at about 7.05 pm, ” the officer stated.
The fire broke out in the plastic godown placed on the first floor of the building contrary to Nandaram Market at Burrabazar, Kolkata’s central business district.
“The flame is not yet been brought under management.
Our officials are battling hard but since the godown is filled with inflammable stuff, it is taking time,” the officer told.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Board of Administrators of Kolkata Municipal Corporation, Firhad Hakim, has gone into the place.
