Nagpur: Hundreds of Zilla Parishad employees and visitors have magic runaway after the fire broke on the second floor of the new administrative building in civilian lines on Tuesday.
The incident also discussed that the Ground-Plus-3 Storey building did not have a fire safety compliance certificate issued by the Fire Department and NMC Emergency.
Around 120 a.m., the NMC control room received a call on fire in one of the offices on the second floor of the ZP building.
“The fire ranging from the switch board and ZP staff alert to water with the help of extinguishers installed there,” API official told toi.
Before the fire department from the civilian line station arrived there, trained staff had flushed fire, the official said.
“When the fire broke out, all staff and even many visitors were present in the building,” he added.
A senior official from the NMC Fire Department confirmed that the Civic body had conducted a fire audit and filed advice on ZP in March 2018.
“We have suggested many steps including installing hose rolls, hose boxes, wet risers, hydrants around the building, alarm system Manually operated electrical fires, underground static water storage tanks, terrace tanks with pumps, sign indicators for evacuation occupants if an emergency occurs, among others, “he said.
But nothing happened so far.
CEO of ZP Yogesh V Kumbhejkar confirmed this and claimed that after the incident today, working to replace the switch board and the regulator began.
He said the installation work of fire fighting equipment such as smoke detectors and sprinklers will also be taken.
