Chennai: A fire accident on the 19th floor in high-rise in Mumbai has recently changed the spotlight on a multi-building (MSB) building which failed to comply with fire safety norms in the Metropolitan area of ​​Chennai (CMA).

Among MSB who was delayed by NOCs was a commercial structure that was mostly concentrated in George Town, Vepery and T Nagar with six of them became a commercial-residential structure.
The majority of buildings have not installed a fire extinguisher system and does not comply with alternative fire safety issued by the Department of Fire and Rescue Services (DFR).
In some cases, firefighting systems are not in working conditions during inspection by fire service personnel and rescue.
Such striking violations were taken to the center of attention by the designated high court monitoring committee, after these buildings were applied to regularization.
A comprehensive fire safety management plan for the central business center district and the exclusive plan for T Nagar involving coordination between departments and community participation by the CMDA, it has not taken off in three years.
The plan began after a fire accident involving commercial companies in 2008 and 2017 in Vepery and T Nagar.
When contacted by the Secretary of the CMDA member Anshul Mishra told toi that reviews of these buildings would be carried out together with DFR regarding fire security.
