Kolkata: Trinamool Congress on Thursday was called Minister Firhad Hakim as the next Kolkata Mayor after meeting members of the newly elected Civic City Council.
The judge, who won the election of Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) from Ward 82, was a former mayor of the city and was appointed as Civic’s body administrator after the previous Board’s office ended in 2020 but the election could not be held due to a pandemic.
Judge, who is also the MLA of the Kolkata port assembly segment, holds a transportation portfolio and housing in the Country Cabinet.
“I want to thank Mamata Banerjee for giving me this opportunity to serve Kolkata people again.
I have been appointed as party leader and after taking an oath as a mayor, I will work to implement Manifesto,” Judge, the first.

He became the Mayor of Kolkata in December 2018 after coming out suddenly Sovan Chatterjee.
South Kolkata Lok Sabha MPA Mala Roy was re-elected as a member of the council from Ward 88, was named the KMC chairman after the meeting, held at Maharashtra Niwas here.
He is the civic body chairman in the previous term too.
Kashipur-Belgaachia Mla Atin Ghosh, who became a member of the council from Ward 11, once again appointed the Deputy Mayor of the Civic’s body.
All 134 newly elected board members from KMC 144-Ward were present at the meeting.
BJP won three wards, while the front of the left and Congress won two in the election held on Sunday.
Three independent candidates also won the election.
The results are stated on Tuesday.
