Lucknow: In another encouragement for the Covid-19 country vaccination program, Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday became the first country in the country to provide more than six crore doses.
According to data from the Cowin portal (updated to 7pm), the total number of expanded doses in Uttar Pradesh reached 6.05 crores which were almost 11% of a total of 55.91 doses of crore given in the country.
Maharashtra, the closest competitor up stands at a dose of 5.07 crore.
In terms of people, 5.10 crore people have taken at least one dose of Covid-19 vaccine, while 94.77 lakh is fully vaccinated.
This translates to an achievement of 35% and 6.8% in two categories.
Data from the Cowin Portal shows that 5.31 doses of crore covishield have been given in the state, while the 73.44 lakh dose of covaxin has been given.
Sputnik also forms a small proportion of the dose given here.
In terms of age groups, 3.07 crore people in the age group 18-44 have taken at least one dose.
This was followed by 1.83 doses of crore in the bracket age 45 to 60.
1.14 the remaining crore dose goes to the elderly category.
The gender gap in Covid-19 vaccination remains a cause of concern with the total beneficiaries including 3.38 male crore and 2.66 female crore.
It is estimated that 16,000 people in the third gender category have also taken vaccines.
Experts hold that up need to improve the second dose administration in the state.
