New Delhi: Entomologist at Washington State confirmed a report on the appearance of Hornet Asian giants living on Thursday.
This is the first sighting confirmed from the “Hornet Murder” in Washington this year, said the Washington State Department (WSDA).
The report was first submitted by Whatcom County Resident on August 11, which was confirmed by WSDA entomologists the following day.
The report includes a photo of insects that attack paper wasp nests in rural areas to the east of Blaine.
“This Hornet shows off the same behavior that we have seen last year – attacking wasp paper,” said Sven Spichiger, WSDA management entomologist.
“If you have paper wasp nests on your property and live in the area, watch them and report the Asian giant hornet you see.
Pay attention to the direction too.” WSDA will prepare a trap in this region to capture insects, mark it, and track it back to the nest.
The British Columbia government will also establish additional traps in Canada since the “Hornet Murder” looks about half a mile from the US-Canadian border.
Giant Hornet Asia was labeled as an invasive pest not for the US.
This is the biggest Hornet in the world, and can kill all honey bees in a matter of hours.
