First time in Telangana, gay couples to say ‘I do’

Hyderabad: In the first, gay couples who live in the city will all make their relationship officials on December 18.
Not by tying a knot but by taking an oath and celebrating their togetherness for the past eight years together with their friends and family.
While same-sex marriage has not been ratified in India, Supriyo Chakraborty and Abhay Dang have decided to provide a great celebration of their relationship without involving marital rituals or formalities.
“The idea is celebrating our unity with our friends and family.
We will have all symbolic rituals such as taking an oath together, ring exchange, cake cutting etc.
We are happy together and that’s what we want to celebrate,” said Chakraborty, who works as a faculty member at The hotel management institute is based in the city.
His colleague, Abhay Dang, worked as a software developer with IT companies.
Both have met through online dating applications back in 2012.
“On our own first date, we knew that we were both meant for each other.
At that time, I did not get out of the closet.
However, with the support of Abhay, I went out to my family and Then meet his family.
After some hiccups, our family accepts each other as a partner and for whom we, “Supriyo said.
Although their relationship may not be ratified in this country, they hope someday they will be recognized as ‘husband’.
“We both believe that most people don’t have a strange pair exposure.
Therefore, their perception of gay couples is limited.
Larger awareness among people, the larger ones will become acceptance,” Chakraborty said.
