Fishermen are killed when the boat is upside down

Thiruvananthapuram: A 40-year-old fisherman died on Saturday after the motorized ship failed and was arrested in a strong wave off the coast of Perumhura.
John Paul from Ennakkidang Purayidam House, Anchuthengu is the deceased.
According to the police, the accident occurred around 10:30 a.m.
while Paul and fellow fishermen returned to the beach after a night fishing trip.
He was part of the three members’ crew who had left for the sea from Anchughengu in a small boat equipped with a paste machine.
Paul is a person who operates a boat paste motor.
The two safe fishermen from the accident told the police that when the ship reached a distance of about three kilometers from the beach, the engine failed.
However, strong winds and now help them float close to the beach near the Perumhura, about 500m south of Muthalapozhi Breakwater here.
But, when they get closer to the beach, the intensity of the waves is getting stronger.
They realized that the ship would hit the beach because of the strong waves.
If it happened, survival opportunities would be lower.
Therefore they decided to leave the ship and swim to the beach.
While the other two managed to swim to a safe place, Paul could not.
He sank just a few meters from the beach.
His friends immediately dived back to the sea and helped him go to the beach.
He rushed to the Chirayinkezh government district hospital, but the doctors claimed to die on arrival.
The police suspect that in addition to strong waves, fatigue may also have played an important role in Paul’s death.
His friends told the police that until when they decided to leave the ship, Paul desperately tried to repair the motorbike and restart.
Paul is the fourth person to lose life at sea at Anchuthengu.
Three weeks ago, a five-year-old boy had died after he was swept away with a strong waves while standing close to the sea along with his brother.
Two days later, a 19-year-old man sank after his boat was reversed near the Perumhura.
A week later, a 57-year-old fisherman died after his contemplation was reversed in the mouth of Muthalapozhi Breakwater, which was a danger zone for fishermen using a small boat.
All of these accidents, including Paul’s death on Saturday, has occurred while warning the district collector to stay away from the sea based on the weather warnings.
The collector has issued a warning on Friday asking fishermen not to explore the sea until Tuesday after the Meteorology Department of India predicted strong winds with speeds ranging from 40 to 45 km / h along the coast of Kerala, Karnataka and Lakshadweep.
The collector on Saturday extended the ban until Wednesday.
