Sunderbans: A fisherman man, Sudarshan Sardar (33), was rescued from the jaw of the tiger by fellow villagers on Thursday morning in the forest under the area of Sunderbans Tiger Reserve (STR).
It took about 20 minutes for the villagers, who had accompanied Sardar to the trip, to save him.
Fishermen who were seriously injured were struggling for life at NRS Hospital.
Four fishermen with a license, led by Sardar from Sonaga Village in Gosaba, went to the Kapura River near Jahan Jest.
Around 7 in the morning, a tiger jumped on a ship anchored on the banks of the river and attacked Sardar.
Three others raised the alarm and began to beat the tiger with a stick.
Tiger retreated but Sardar was left injured, with deep injury on his neck, back and thighs.
Field Director Sunderbans Tiger Reserve Tapas Das said, “The zone where they are said to be fishing are fishing zones.
But fishermen often enter the core area.
We investigate the kasing.”
