Thiruvananthapuram: A group of fishermen located in the sea from the port of Azheecal in Kollam District fled narrowly a tragedy after their trawl boat caught fire.
Even though the boat was really dizzy, the fishermen were saved by people on other fishing boats around him.
Coastal police Neendakara has registered a case in this matter.
The police said that the accident occurred during early Wednesday.
The boat involved in the accident was named Velanni Amma owned by Augustin from Anu Bhavan from Dhalavapuram.
There are nine fishermen on board.
They left for the sea at around 12:30 a.m.
The boat caught fire about an hour later when it was about three miles of sea from the beach.
The fishermen who escaped told the police that the suspected fire had broken from a leak at the LP gas stove on board when the fire broke when they turned on the stove to make tea.
As soon as fire spread, all fishermen on a dive ship into the sea.
Fishermen on other ships nearby rushed to help them and remove them from water.
