Guwahati: Head of Assam Minister Himanta Buswa Sarma on Saturday said five colleges will soon be converted into universities to give them autonomy.
He spoke at the Northeast Education Summit in the National Education Policy (NEP) in Gawahati.
Highlighting the progress carried out by the State Department of Education in the implementation of NEP 2020, Sarma told that a process had been made to improve North Lakhimpur College, Nagaon College, JB College, Sibsagar College and Handique Girls College to the University level in the next two years.
“Assam has made certain progress in implementing policies.
We have created a high-level committee for NEP.
The design of the implementation of NEP has been ready and Rajya Siksha Ayog has been formed,” Sarma said.
Sarma said the NEP 2020 was adapted with time by entering 21st century scientific thinking.
This policy is also synchronized with the basic principles of Indian civilization based on the basis of knowledge and wisdom.
He also saw that this would free the student community from rat races and instill to their creative and innovative thinking.
While starting his speech with Sanskrit Sloka, the main minister also quoted Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, who said, “The final product of education must be a free creative man, who can fight against historical conditions and natural difficulties”.
While the Advisory of the Ministry of Education, Nani Gopal Mangana, delivered a speech, the principal secretary of the State Education Department, B Kalyan Chakravarthy, gave a sound of thanks.
