Bardhaman: Five family members, including three children, were killed and six others were injured on Friday after their vehicle collided with a truck in the Purba District of Bardhaman West Bengal, police said.
The accident took place on Jalan Bardhaman-Katha in the Kamnara area below the Dewata Police Station limit, when the car driver lost control of it and crashed into a truck coming from the opposite direction, a senior officer said.
All 11 car residents, including the driver, were taken to the Bardhaman Medical College and Hospital, where the doctor said five of them were taken dead.
Six injured people have undergone treatment at health facilities, the officer said.
All the victims came from Dum Dum airport in Kolkata and went to their house in Sayedpara in the Murshidabad district, he said.
The corpse of Sheikh Rash (61), Sainur Khatun (17), Sonali Khatun (9), Arya Sheikh (3) and Sayan Sheikh (3) was sent for post-mortem examination, he said.
The truck driver escaped from the place, the officer said.
“Investigations have begun, and are looking for trucks,” he added.
