Ghaziabad: Five traffic police, including three police officers and two policemen, have been suspended for allegedly trying to extort money from cloth traders after they were stopped while checking Masturi at NH-9.
On Tuesday, TOI reported that four traders from Garh Mukteshwar filed a complaint to Dr.
Iraj Raja, SP (rural), that five traffic police have stopped them to the NH-9 in Masturi on Sunday and demanded Rs 20,000 to let them leave.
Traders carry cash 2.3 lakh cash with them, what they say is buying some items from Delhi.
They accused that the traffic police stopped them saying it was a weekend locking and then asked Rs 20,000.
They then lowered their requests to Rs 12,000.
When traders refused to pay the number, the police took them to the Masuri police station and threatened to involve them all in the wrong case and seized cash bags too.
DR IRAJ King on Tuesday sent a report about this problem after Amit Pathak, Dig & SSP (Ghaziabad), has taken action.
The suspended police were identified as – three police chiefs – Sudhir Singh, Parag Kumar, Sandeep Kumar while two policemen were – Tinku Kumar and Devendra Singh.
What’s more, because of the negligence of this case, the Traffic Inspector Paramhans Tiwar will pay a 30-day salary as a fine.
Pathak said that the department’s investigation will be carried out by SP (Law) and further action will be taken against this police after that.
