Jammu: Five Allegedly Overground Workers Outfit Terror has been arrested at J & K’s Rajouri for allegedly helping a group of terrorist infiltrators from Pakistan’s ambush and killing nine soldiers when they moved from one wooded location to another, avoiding the army contingent on their way.
Two other suspects had been arrested a few weeks ago.
“The terrorist who was arrested on Monday was directly related to the terrorists involved in the shootout with troops in the Bhatta Durrian forest in the Durian and Thannnami area last month,” said an official.
Security forces have explored dense forest areas in the border district of Rajouri and Poonch for weeks without success to track backward terrorists.
The focus now rounds them which facilitates their movements and provides important information that helps them maintain strength.
“According to intelligence input, more than 12 people are part of a network that helps large-armed terrorists who infiltrate J & K from Kashmir who is occupied by Pakistan,” said a source.
Overground workers who were arrested from Thannamandi and Mendhar were all booked under the activities (prevention) that violated the law and other laws.
Of the nine army personnel who were killed in the action, two were junior officers assigned.
Five soldiers died during the comber surgery in the Champler area of the Surankote forest on October 11.
Four others were killed in a second shootout with terrorists on October 14 at Bhatta Durrian in Mendhar Tehsil from Poonch Regency.
