Thane: Traffic comes to the path of taking a traffic jam at Mumbai-Nashik Highway for almost five hours on Tuesday morning after a collision between the container and a gasular tanker.
The driver of the container has turned to avoid the truck driving in the wrong direction, but finally crashed into a gas tanker on the opposite track around 4am, officials said.
“The driver of the container suffered an injury and was shifted to the hospital closest to the rescue staff,” said Santosh Kadam, head of the regional disaster management cell in Thane Corporation.
Two heavy vehicles blocked traffic in hours, until the traffic police rushed there with cranes and cleaned the road.
Replase Patil, DCP (Thane Traffic), said the affected vehicle was removed immediately and the stretch was removed before the morning rush hour.
