Navi Mumbai: Commissioner NMMC has written to Deputy Director of Education, Division Mumbai, seeking NOCS cancellation given to four CBSE schools and revocation of the registration of the State Council for legal action on education (RTE).
Management of five private schools is thought to have reduced education students through non-payment fees for the academic year 20-21.
Education Officers NMMC, Deputy Commissioner of Yogesh City Kaduskar said four CBSE schools included a new Horizon Public School in Airoli, the Ternar Orchid International School in Koparchhairie, Ryan International School in Sanpada and Amruta Vidyalay in Nerul, besides Saint Lawrence School (state board) in Vashi.
“We have received around 433 complaints such as private schools that do not promote students to higher classes, students are not given their results and students removed from online classes because of non-payment fees.
Schools are also allegedly caused mental harassment to students,” Kaduskar said.
He said the schools were presented notifications and NMMC officials visiting schools and online hearings were also conducted.
Private school management is directed not to seize education students through cost contributions.
Kaduskar said the school ignored notice.
“Schools have violated Part 16 RTE Law, 2009, which stated that no child received in schools will be held in any class or issued until the settlement of basic education.
They also violated Part 17 which forbade physical punishment and mental harassment against mental Children, “he added.
“Strict actions have been taken against these five private schools because their management behaves firmly by not following our instructions despite identified follow-up by our officials,” said Commissioner NMMC Bangar Abhijit.
Dr.
Nicolas Correa, Executive Director of the New Horizon Public School, said they had not received notice of NOC cancellation.
“Parents have not paid the cost for the last academic year, but we have not yet stopped the online class in the year.
However, they did not even hand over an effort to pay last year’s fees through installments.
The school must pay the teacher’s salary,” he said.
Saira Kennedy’s Principal of Saint Lawrence School and Principal Muriel Fernandes from Ryan International School did not respond to text messages from TOI.
