Kolkata: Five puppies were found poisoned to death at Ramdhan Khan Lane at Sovabazar on Wednesday.
Carcasses of puppies, who are around one month old, found by locals in the morning.
The sixth puppy survived the murder and sent to a pet clinic for treatment.
Jorabagan police said they had received complaints that all poisonous puppies and Kolkata police have launched an investigation into the incident.

Locals claim some crows also die after eating the same food.
Less than two weeks ago, another dog had died mysteriously in the area.
The police said they suspected that the stray was killed by a group of people from the slum nearby.
“We will intensify our vigilance to prevent such incidents,” said an officer.
However, dog lovers in the area did not feel guaranteed.
They said someone who knew the movement of these dogs was involved in the murder.
The parts of the local residents blame the rejection of dog lovers to allow dog relocation for the current incident.
