Vadodara: The third five years of MBBS students will be suspended from their hostel campus in connection with Ragging incidents last week at GMers Medical College, Gotri.
“The decision was unanimously taken by the Anti-Ragging Committee today (Monday).
We will submit it to their parents who have been called for a meeting on Tuesday,” Dean Medical College Dr.
Varsha Godbole told Toi.
The decision was taken after the second year MBBS students were named five third year students in their statement given to the Anti-Ragging Committee 12 members who investigated the first Ragging Incident in medical colleges.
It was in Wee time last Saturday that around 60 years the second MBBS students were made to stand on the line and were asked to do 100 sit-ups by their seniors.
The college has stopped two junior residents from the orthopedic and surgical department while seeking assistance from the police department to act against the third students who accompanied the duo.
The trio allegedly came to the car and asked the third year MBBS students to make students MBBS second year do sit-ups.
A student even fainted while doing a sit-up.
“The police inspector remained present during our meeting today (Monday) and looked for a report from us.
We have sent our report to the Police Department so that actions against former students who do not work with us in any capacity can be taken,” said Godbole.
“We are waiting for the Anti-Ragging Committee report.
After we get a report, we will file a complaint against the person concerned.
We have also used several police in medical colleges to avoid unwanted incidents,” a police officer said.
