Srinagar: Five terrorists were killed in two raw shootings in South Kulgam Kabupum – one in Gopalpora and the other in the Pombai area – on Wednesday.
IGP (Kashmir) Vijay Kumar said the Commander of the Trf AFAQ Sikander district was among the five terrorists killed.
Three terrorists were killed in Pombai and two in Gopalpora, he said, in operations based on the tip-off of informants.
The meeting was triggered on Wednesday afternoon when a joint team consisting of police and CRPF personnel launched the Cordon-and-Search operation in two areas and guerrillas opened fire on strength when they began to approach.
Gunbai Pombai began first and the terrorists were killed there have not been identified.
Sikander AFAQ TRF is between the two terrorists who were killed in the Gopalpura area, Kumar said.
Police and CRPF, meanwhile, arrested two people connected with Lashker-e-Taiba in the South Pulwama Kashmir district and recovered Ied from them.
A police statement said the two terrorist colleagues were identified as Amir Bashir Dar Sirnoo, at Pulwama, and Mukhtar Ahmad Bhat from Matri Bugh, Shopian.
In the third incident on Wednesday, two CRPF men and two civilians were injured when the terrorists threw a hand grenade in Palhalan Chowk, in the district of Kashmir North.
All those who were injured were shifted to the nearest hospital for treatment.
