Bhubaneswar: Five years after they stopped being a legal tender, Junked RS 500 noted that with the nominal value of the RS 35,000 was confiscated by Odisha Wasvilance from the home of an engineer in Nayagarh Regency on Thursday.
Anti-corruption wings found demonetised records while carrying out attacks at House of Rusinath Baral, an Executive Engineer Assistant (RD Division) Ranpur in Nayagarh Regency following the allegations he collected disproportionate assets (DA).
“When we were looking for his residence, we found a note of Rs 500 which was prohibited worth Rs 35,000 under the bed pillow.
We were very suspicious of it was black money,” said a citizenship officer.
Further search caused the recovery of large moving assets and did not move to the tone around Rs 2.51 Crore owned by Baral and his relatives.
Vigilance found a 3-storey building in Chandrasekharpur in Bhubaneswar, a one-story house in Dhenkanal, seven plots in Sadangi in the Dhenkanal District and two plots in Bhubaneswar.
Allegiance officials also confiscated Rs 1.30 lakh cash from their homes.
Baral has been detained.
On the same day, vigilance did three more operations against corrupt officers.
Assets are worth more than RS 1.3 Crore detected in the name of the Sonepur Sub-Collector office officer.
Income Inspector was arrested in Sambalpur for allegedly receiving Rs 15,000 bribes.
Other income inspectors were arrested in Coraput Regency for allegedly accepting RS 10,000 bribes.
