Patna: JULUI MP Chirag Paswan on Saturday urged CM Nitish Kumar to improve the accountability of officers because of their failure to examine smuggling of liquor in Bihar ‘Dry’.
He demanded RS25 Lakh compensation and government work for family members of every victim of the Hooch tragedy in the state.
Speaking with reporters after returning from Gopalganj, Bettiah and Muzaffarpur where more than 40 people died after consuming false liquor recently, Chirag said he supported the ban, but the law must be strictly enforced.
Referring to the Nitish CM which proposed a November 16 meeting at the action related to the ban, the head of the LJP (RAM Vilas) said those who died in the Hooch incident were members of their family income who had a low strata from the community.
CM must extend the disbursement of free rations to the poor for the next six months.
“We have written to CM to think of proposals in the interests of a larger community,” he said.
Chirag said it was wrong to put responsibility for those who consumed fake and dead alcohol.
Referring to the statement of CM that those who consume bad things will definitely suffer, said Chirag, “I am different from CM.
They will not consume liquor, if not available in the region.

Chirag also accused that liquor smugglers operated with security secretly from the ruling party leaders.

Reacting to the alleged Chirag, JD (U) MLC Neeraj Kumar said JULUI MP must provide evidence before making “unfounded” charges against the government.
“I think he has no knowledge of the legislative trial.

Chirag also said the party would launch the ‘Ratri Wisram’ program in rural areas to listen to people’s complaints.
About 250-300 villages have been identified for this purpose, he added.
