Jaisalmer: On the occasion of the 74th troops, the largest Khadi national flag in the world is displayed on the highest hill near Jaisalmer’s military station on Saturday.
The flag is 225 feet and wide 150 feet wide.
It was launched by GOC from the Battle Ax division, General Yogendra Singh Mann.
The 74th Army Day: Jaisalmer shows the largest Khadi National Khadi in the world of 4,500 meters of hand-woven-woven cotton bands used to make a flag covering a total area of 33,750 square feet.
Chakra Ashok in the flag has a diameter of 30 feet.
It weighs around 1,400 kg.
Manufactured by Khadi Dyers and Printers, the flag is a “tribute that is suitable for Indian heritage” because it is made of one hundred percent of Khadi material, the army said in an official statement.
The flag lifting commemorates the 75th year of Indian independence celebrated as ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’.
Defense spokesman Lieutenant Colonel Amitabh Sharma said, “On the occasion of the Army day, on January 15, 22, the South Command launched a monumental national flag in size 225 feet in 150 feet at Jaisalmer’s military station.” The army said this flag exhibited “the pride and aspirations of people in our country with the aim of knitting all citizens to support the glory and spirit of nationalism.” On that occasion, Jaisalmer Air Force Station Commander Group Captain AS Pannu, former Maharawal Jaisalmer Chaitanya Raj Singh, Ershelwhile Royal Family member Vikram Singh Nachna, a senior military official and general public.
