WASHINGTON: State Secretary Antony Blinken will increase human rights issues and democracy with Indian officials during his first visit to New Delhi because both countries have more value in these fields than, according to US senior officials.
Blinken is scheduled to arrive in New Delhi on July 27.
While living in the country, he will meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Minister of External Affairs J Jaishankar.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in New Delhi that the National Security Advisor Ajit Doval will also meet Bilinken.
“In connection with human rights and democracy, yes, you are right; I will notify you that we will raise it, and we will continue the conversation, because we strongly believe that we have more value in common on their front than we don’t,” Dean Thompson, Assistant Secretary of State to South and Central Asian affairs, told reporters during a conference call before visit.
“We believe India will be a very important part to continue the conversation and build strong efforts in those fields in partnership when we advance,” Thompson said in response to a question.
India had previously rejected criticism by foreign governments and human rights groups about accusations that civil liberties had eroded in the country.
The government has confirmed that India has strong democratic practices and institutions to maintain all rights.
The government has emphasized that the Indian Constitution provides adequate protection under various laws to ensure human rights protection.
Thompson stressed that relationships with India are strong ones who have experienced through the administration of all colors and lines in the United States and will continue to do so.
“We look forward to this opportunity for the Secretary to speak with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, with the Minister of External Affairs S Jaishankar, and continues to pursue a myriad area of the shared interest we have,” he said.
“I think it’s fair to say that we see relationships on a very high level, and India will do it.
Of course.
Stay a very important partner,” he said.
“We will continue to pursue our global comprehensive strategic partnerships, and I think based on the president who makes our quad and partnership with a very high Indian priority right at the beginning of this administration, it sets the tone for what we think.
Can reach and reach with them, And with our other partners too.
So.
I hope to continue the dialog we have in all of those fields, “Thompson said.
