Mumbai: ATR ATR ATR aircraft landed safely from Mumbai to Bhuj with one of the machines which was exposed partly after the part of the Cowl engine fell while taking off on Wednesday morning.
The flight took off at 6:30 a.m.
from Mumbai.
The plane (VT-RKJ) is four years.
Cowl protects the machine from foreign particles and is also used to reduce dragging and cool machine.
“The cowling, red, seems to come from the air alliance of air operating ATR Air Mumbai-Bhuj flight 9i-625, which has released the previous minute,” said a source.
“Flights have landed safely without further damage,” said Arun Kumar, Director General of Civil Aviation.
Kapt Amit Singh, an air safety expert, said, “An incident like this can happen if cowling is not secured correctly.
Airplane technicians, engineers must have removed cowling to carry out maintenance or repairs.
It was not detected during a walk around inspection by Pilot too.
“Aircraft (VT-RKJ) are four years old.
“It can cause other damage to the machine.
If Mumbai ATC tells the pilot, the flight should return to Mumbai, unless it was told a lot later when it was safer to continue to Bhuj.
Passengers also might pay attention and tell the crew, in terms of This, the flight should return to Mumbai, “Captain Singh added.
