Coimbatore: City airport has recorded a 11.3% increase in flight movements in October, compared to September.
In accordance with the data available with the Indian Official Airport Authority (AAI), the city has handled 1,112 flights from October, against 999 flights in September.
However, only 56 international flights were operated last month, compared with 178 in a comparable period in 2019, when normal operation.
Kerel in international flights also affects international passenger traffic.
The airport has recorded a 15% increase in passenger traffic last month, when the airport handles 1, 25, 053 domestic passengers and 6,824 international passengers, compared to September.
“Both passenger traffic and flight movements are up every month.
This shows people believe the safety protocol taken by AAI.
Moreover, the decrease in Covid-19 infection and an increase in vaccinated populations increasingly support the trust of leaflets,” said an airport official.
The flight movement was disturbed during the second covid-19 wave peak from May.
While the airport has continued flight operations in July, only after August the airport began recording good passenger traffic.
The tour operator, meanwhile, said most people flew out of town for business and recreational activities.
“Most flights witnessed a packaged movement, thanks to the government’s decision to allow flights to operate 100% of October 18.
The airport will record more leaflets this month, because we have got several more connections in the winter schedule.”
