Guwahati: The State Union Minister for Justice and Pratima Bhoumik’s social empowerment on Saturday said international flights will start operating from Agartala Airport to Dhaka and Bangkok immediately.
He made a statement while attending a commissioning a new integrated terminal building from the Bikram Biram Bir Airport.
He is one of the first passengers starting the terminal on Saturday.
The integrated terminal was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on January 4.
The Indian Airport Authority (AAI) said the international airport tag will come true after permission must come.
Agartala will be the third international airport in the northeast after Guwahati and Imphal.
Agartala will be connected directly to Chittagong in Bangladesh immediately, they said.
Bhoonik told the media, “I like being part of this historic moment and very lucky to travel among the first passengers.” The Minister expressed happiness on the commissioning terminal for the people of Tripura.
During the first function on January 4, Modi said that Tripura has the potential to become the gateway to the northeast to deliver throughout the area and the airport will help achieve this goal.
The newly developed terminal building is considered one of the best in the region.
AAI officials said it would be fun for passengers to rise and get off the new terminal building and experience a beautiful atmosphere.
