Flights delay almost four hours over ‘hunch’

Pune: High drama opened at the city airport on Friday after the passenger husband bound Ranchi claimed that he had a “feeling” that something bad would happen to the flight.
He told AirAsia staff (AirAsia), which informed Central Industrial Security Forces (CISF).
The CISF personnel moved the aircraft to the bay of isolation and saved the baggage of each passenger before it sounded all right.
Flights (I5-1472), are scheduled to leave for Ranchi around 9am, finally taking off at around 1pm.
The man was then arrested by the police and now came out with a guarantee.
The airline said the flight left Bengaluru and landed at Pune around 8.20 in the morning, after that to continue to Ranchi.
In a statement, AirAsia said it received a verbal threat.
“The man stated that he had a hunch and asked all passenger luggage to be thoroughly examined.
The plane was brought to the bay of isolation and mandatory, a comprehensive security check was carried out,” said AirAsia spokesman told toi.
A airport official said they decided to take this “Firasimia” seriously because all airports in India – especially the defense airbase – with high warnings over the past few days.
“In accordance with the direction issued by the Civil Aviation Security Bureau, we must take every threat, no matter how insignificant, serious.
So, we decided not to ignore this,” said an airport official.
On the plane waiting, there is fear, confusion, and chaos.
A passenger who flew to Pune from Bengaluru said they were not allowed to deplane for one hour after landing.
“Tarmac was buzzed with officials and fire brigades.
We went up and isolated at the terminal to 12.20pm.
No one offers drinks; passengers become angry and argue with officials.
We can move towards the gate of arrival only at around 12:30 a.m.

According to officials in Know, the man had acted paranoid since it was announced that the airport would be closed from October 15 for maintenance of the runway.
