Mangaluru: Heavy fog forced the Authority of Mangaluru International Airport to divert flights from Dubai International Airport to Cochin on Sunday.
On Saturday, two flights from Dubai and Saudi Arabia were also transferred to the Calicut International Airport because of poor visibility.
An official from Air India Express said flights from Dubai should land at Mangaluru International Airport about 4.5 hours on Sundays.
However, because of poor visibility, then diverted to Cochin International Airport.
“We asked to divert flights to the nearest Kannur International Airport, but did not get permission.
Then, it landed in Kochi,” the official said.
