Patna / Bagaha: Unrelenting rain for the past three days in Nepal and the state has resulted in a sudden increase on the water surface and causing a situation such as floods in the West Champaran and Gopalganj district.
DM of the two districts have sounded a warning in the block which is vulnerable to the flood.
The villagers have been asked to move to safer places.
Minister of Water Resources Department (WRD) Sanjay Kumar Jha said the situation was like a flood that applies in the basin of several rivers.
He added that rain would continue to destroy the parts of the country for a month.
While the water discharge through Valmiki Nagar Barrage across randak was 1.97 lakh cusecs on Thursday afternoon, it increased to 4.04 lakh cusec on Friday morning.
The release of water remained stable until around 10am and then fell to 3.72 lakh cusecs, followed by 3.47 lakh cusecs in the afternoon.
Assistant Assistant Engineers Gandak Krakatath Pathak said all 36 barren gates opened in the morning to facilitate sustainable water disposal.
The Jhanduta border outpost camp from Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) has two to three feet in the campus.
Flood water also entered the bottom of the Bagaaha Town, in addition to entering Chakadahawa Village, Bintoli and Jhanduarri in Lakshmipur, Angryarwa Panchayat under the Valmiki Nagar police station.
Champaran Barat DM Kundan Kumar sounded a warning in all 18 district blocks after heavy rain and the release of new water from Valmiki Nagar Barrage.
The increase in the surface of the water, masan, smart and the Shikarahana river has added to the worries about flooding.
The villagers have been asked to shift from the bottom to a safer area in the block concerned.
Gopalganj DM also sounded vigilant in the vulnerable district block.
He assessed the situation of the embankment in the Mangalpur and Bishunpur area under the conscious block.
Meanwhile, the Central Air Commission said the water level in Dumariaghat in Gopalganj Regency was 60cm above the danger level in the morning, and is expected to increase further by 23cm on Saturday morning or about 1 meter above the danger level.
Bagmati, Kamla and even also flowed above the danger level in most places along their downstream with the surface of the water showing an increasing trend.
On Thursday night, the water surface of the Bagmati river has crossed the level of danger along the downstream in the range of 1.35 meters to 2.17 meters.
However, on Friday, the level has fallen, but shows a trend that increases again on Friday.
Although the water discharge through a series of birds on the Kosi River has not increased substantially, three-day rainfall has caused swelling of several Kosi tributaries, pose a flood threat to Purnia Regency, Supaul, Sapaul and Madhepura.
Mahanda’s water level also did not rise dramatically on Friday.
