GUWAHATI: The flood situation remained unchanged as over 36,000 people across four districts in Assam have been affected in the first wave , an official bulletin said on Wednesday.
Till Sunday, 3000 people were affected due to the deluge.
According to the daily flood report of the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA), 36,691 people have been affected in Biswanath, Dhemaji, Dibrugarh and Lakhimpur districts.
Among the districts, Lakhimpur has been worst-affected district with 31,623 people reeling under the effect of the flood, the report stated.
According to the Central Water Commission, no river in Assam has been flowing above the danger mark.
Currently, 67 villages are submerged and over 1,000 hectare of crop area has been damaged across six districts, ASDMA said.
As many as 19 roads have been damaged in Barpeta, Biswanath, Chirang, Jorhat, Lakhimpur, Nalbari and Udalguri, while two bridges have been damaged in Barpeta district.
Massive erosions have also taken place in several locations of Baksa, Barpeta, Morigaon, Goalpara, and Sonitpur.
However, no loss of human life has been reported from any district.
