New York: Several flood subway stations and the main roads were cut in New York on Thursday before the arrival of the estimated Storm Elsa, which had risen to the US east coast after hitting Florida with wind and rain.
Between water 2 and 4 inches falls in a series of lightning storms above the city and surrounding areas on Thursday afternoon, national weather services (NWS) said, “causing extensive flash floods in certain places.” Subway passengers posted video recordings on Twitter flood platforms at Station Street 157 in North Manhattan.
Commuter can look far waist in the water, cross the dark pool to reach the station platform.
“Line 1 and someone who truly gets hit, with many floods at the station,” Sarah Feinberg, MTA’s head, New York public transport authority, said on Thursday on the press direction.
Some main roads, including in Bronx, are temporarily closed, disturbing traffic.

NWS warned that the possibility of new floods on Friday morning, with the arrival of heavy rains expected by Storm Elsa, which moved up from Florida.
Even though it worked to protect the city from the flood since Hurricane Sandy in 2012 which killed 44 people and paralyzed American economic capital for New York’s Days remained very vulnerable to flooding, with the incident expected to increase due to climate change.
Some officials, including Eric Adams, President Brooklyn and favorite for the election of the November Mayor in New York after winning Pratama Democrats this week, called for an urgent investment to strengthen city infrastructure.
“Extreme weather episodes like this will not be lost,” warned one of his main opponents, Kathryn Garcia, who oversees the water pump after a sandy storm.
“We must invest in a strategy to protect the city,” he said.
