Floods reached 37L, Claims Life 23 People in 16 Bihar Dists

Patna: Even because there are signs that the flood has receded, the demand for people in 16 affected districts for relief has increased.
The flood so far claims the life of 23 people in the state.
When the Union Minister and Begusarai MP Giriraj Singh visited several villages in Baruni and side by side with Matihani and Bachhwara villages in the district on Wednesday, he faced anger of those who were seeking help and assistance from administration.
Also, Singh could not visit several other villages he wanted because he could not get the boat needed from the government on time.
The Bachhwara sub-division administration has sent two ships available at that time to a flood-hit village to carry out rescue operations and assistance.
In fact, the number of people affected by flooding in the state increased by more than five lakh in the last three days.
The number of blocks and villages affected each increased to 100 and 2,628.
The total number of flood-affected people stood at 37 lakh on Thursday compared to 32.29 lakh on Tuesday, said the State Disaster Management Department (DMD).
More than 1.35 lakh people have been transferred as a result of floods in 16 districts, and as many as 11.59 people lakh have lunch and night food in the 865 kitchen communities disguised.
Communique DMD also said the authorities of the affected districts have transferred Relief (GR) Gratitous worth Rs 6,000 per family into a bank account from one affected member.
The DMD also said that considering the increase in the number of villages that were beaten by floods, NDRF and SDRF team numbers also increased to 17 and 12, to carry out rescue operations and assistance.
Meanwhile, the flood water pressure in the villages has increased in the Mahanda River basin in Kishangangj and Katihar, because the river has flowed above the danger level.
With ganga flowing 10cm below the highest flood rate of 34.86 meters in Bhagalpur, it has flooded the beams lying along two banks to Kahalgaon and Pirpainty district.
Floods also impact on the northern block of the district.

From Gandhi Ghat (Patna) and so on, along the downstream to Kahalgaon, the river water surface has fallen, even though the river still flows above the level of danger.
