Fly ash from thermal power plants has good use: experts

Nagpur: “There is no development without electricity and 70% of electricity produced from coal, therefore we cannot ignore Fly Ash.
This is not a challenge but the opportunity if used wisely,” said Ashish Jaiswal, President of Maharashtra State Mining Corporation.
He handled the meeting during the Prime Function of the Three Day National Conference Green Ashcon and Green Buildcon 2021 on the use of green building materials and Fly Ash which kicked in the city on Thursday.
By stating that there was optimal use of Fly Ash in construction, Jaiswal said that even export can be seen as an opportunity and appealing to the government to take steps in this matter.
The Sudhir Paliwal Conference Coordinator said that the aim was to bring carbon emissions under control and promote the productive use of flying ash produced from coal-based power plants.
“Although it is not easy to curb carbon emissions, efforts must be made to use a by-product produced and to promote the industry based on them,” he added.
Power Thermal Chandrapur and Gonst Station stations produce large amounts of flying ash, which are exported globally.
Citing this, Sanjay Kharahe, chairman and managing director Mahagenco, said “The fly-ash-based industry in the country and Vidarbha must advance.
We will provide them with ash as much as they need.” M Sivakumar, Executive Director of National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC), appeal to everyone to help create social awareness about Fly Ash.
“Fly ash can be an alternative to illegal stone and sand pellets extracted from rivers.
At present, the product is being used in many industries and even in the construction sector, which is a happy problem,” he said.
