Gurugram: Department of Public Works (PWD) is exploring the possibility of building underpasses and flyovers on the Gurugram-Faridabad road to make travel easier for users.
The road, which connects the two main districts of Haryana, is one of the busiest stretches in the city.
According to officials, three important intersections on the stretch – Ghata Chowk, Gwaldahari Junction and Pali Chowk – are being seen as an area where the underpass or flyover can be built to alleviate the flow of traffic.
“To ensure a fluent flow of traffic, we see the possibility of building flyovers or underpasses, along with street service, in three critical intersections on Jalan Gurugram-Faridabad,” said a senior PWD official.
The official said that, at present, they have waved offers inviting tenders for consulting services to assess feasibility and prepare detailed project reports for the plan.
“The agency to whom this tender will be given will get a four-month period of time to first conduct a feasibility assessment and then, if the project is found to be executed, to prepare the DPR for the same thing.
If the project is found feasible and everything goes according to plan, We hope to start a job on the ground next year, after completing all documents and formalities.
“At present, we cannot say which intersection will see which structural construction.
It will all be clear only after the DPR is prepared, “officially added.
According to the GMDA comprehensive mobility management plan, which was released in December 2020, the stretch was one of the 10 most dangerous roads in the city.
With a large number of heavy vehicles using the road, he tends to be vulnerable Against an accident.
If this project sees the daylight, all roads stretching from NH-8 to Pali Chowkmay see a repair in the coming years, with GMDA also worked on plans to increase SPR.
While plans to make a stretch between Ghata T-Point and Vatika Chowk-free signal through the construction of the flyover has been approved by the authority, GMDA now works further expanding this plan to enter all SPR, until NH-8.
