New Delhi: Covid-19 cumulative vaccination coverage India on Tuesday crossed 99 crores.
These include more than 70 crore people who have been given the first dose and 28.9 crore who have received the second dose.
When India is getting closer to a sign of one billion, the Ministry of Health urges the state government to improve the drive of vaccination and also focus on the second dose coverage as the number of people who are quite qualified for the second shooting have not received it.
As a cumulative dose given past 99.08 Crore on Tuesday night, the government described it as a “historical milestone”.
Highlighting the number of vaccinations, Minister of Health Mansukh Mandaviya tweeted said, “Going for it India, continues to walk quickly towards our milestone from our #Covid #Covid vaccination.” We were at 99 crores 39.7 Crore had got their first shot, and that number was 11.5 crore for the second dose.
More than 16.8 crore people have received their first shots in the age group of 45-59 years.
In this group bracket, around 8.7 crore had got a second shot.
In the case of senior citizens over 10.6 Crore had received the first dose and more than 6.2 crore had taken a second shot.
Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan, at a review meeting on Monday, congratulations on the state in their efforts to vaccinate all citizens and underline the need to encourage full vaccine coverage.
The ministry has asked the state and UTS to identify and prioritize districts that have low coverage for focused actions and explore requirements for mobilization efforts, handling local challenges, the need for additional Covid vaccination centers and increases access in rural areas.
The state has also been asked to share their strategies to increase the second dose coverage.
The ministry also sought advice in formulating new norms for international travel.
