Letter: The Federation of Guajarat Weavers Association (Fogwa) on Friday was handed over to the police listing 57 textile companies allegedly involved in the fraudulent weaving unit.
This list was handed over to the Police Commissioner of Ajay City Tomar and the actions were required against those involved in the racket.
Fogwa recently held a meeting of problems that saw the participation of the leaders of various industrial societies where the weaving unit was located.
In the meeting it was decided to expose these companies and demand strict action against them.
According to Fogwa, these companies have thinned weavers around Rs 10 Crore in the past six months.
“But the actual size of a racket is much bigger.
This is a multi-crore racket where a handful of brokers is not a simple twist but a well-planned racket,” said Ashok Jirawala, President Fogwa.
Jirawala accused that there were groups operating in the market that made purchasing textile products worth crores rupees for several months and then suddenly disappeared without making payments.
