Kolkata: The Calcutta High Court has asked the state government to ensure all Covid regulations are followed during the Christmas and New Year celebrations.
The verdict on the pill was submitted by Howrah Residen Ajay Dey, the Chair of the Division of Prakash Shrivastav and Justice Rajarhi Bharadwaj directed the country to ensure that Covid SOP was followed during the celebration of all festivals in the future.
The State Pollution Control Board has announced a 35-minute window from 11.55pm to 12:30 to explode environmentally friendly crackers during Christmas and New Year.
Calcutta HC had previously banned exploding all crackers but the Supreme Court then reversed orders, by saying only green crackers can be used during the celebration.
Last year, Park Street Carnival was held with a capacity of 50% seating but food stalls were not permitted in Allen Park.
This year’s carnival is still in work.
The first meeting has occurred but choirs and programs have not lined up.
“There will be music but the celebration may have to be a low key if the HC order is so.
Crowding will definitely not be permitted,” said FR Dominic Gomes, Vicar-General of the Archdiocese of Kolkata, Key Member of the Carnival Planning Committee.

The midnight Mass did not occur and the masses must be completed at 8pm at the holy rosary cathedral of the Roman Catholic Church.
“CM has attended it.
We are in the process of planning this year this year and will obey the direction of the court,” said FR Gomes.
In St Paul’s cathedral, a 50% seating capacity was followed for Christmas Eve mass last year.
This year’s plan has not been publicized.
