Bhubaneswar: footsteps in shopping centers in the city have fallen significantly in the last few days after the state’s announcement to limit customers up to 50% of their commercial capacity.
The shop owners claimed that they had not recovered from the losses suffered for the last two locks, and fresh sidewalks seemed harder.
“The last few weekend witnessed a heavy rush and we did a very good business.
But all Covid cases that suddenly began to increase and the government imposed restrictions that only allowed 50% of our capacity customers.
The number of people who came to the mall had dropped To around 20-30% of capacity compared to last week, “said Saroj Parida, the branded clothing store manager in a city.
“With the end of the sale of the season occurring in most stores and outlets, the decline in walks has caused a business decline.
Without a festival on the corner, people today come to shopping discounts and most stores do fast business despite the slim season.
But with cases Covid on a fresh increase and sidewalk, it will cause less business and losses.
We just started recovering some losses, “said Amarjit Mohanty, another shop owner in the city.
The shop owner said they followed all Covid protocols and asked people to comply with guidelines like wearing masks and maintaining social distance.
“We are pleased that the government has not announced the closure of the mall at the same time as it was done during the first wave and both pandemic but it was a nearby shopping center and was allowed to open the last Mandiri store not like.
But we have to pay rent and pay staff even if the store is fixed.
Closed and no business, “said Rakesh Sahu, a shop owner at the mall at Kalpana Square.
