The local footwear brand has become very popular so it has also attracted customers from other districts such as Prayagraj, Sultanpur, Amethi and Rai Bareilly.
Ratan Mishra, District Mission Manager (Pratapgarh), told TII, “We have organized the Maidlong Maiden Training Camp to make it for women in two villages.
In the training camp, women are taught all the processes of making footwear.
This step starts under the mission of livelihoods Rural State (UPSRLM) last year, and aimed at facilitating financial independence of the rural self-help group.
“He added,” This project began to produce good results within three months when the SHG began to receive orders from the Pratapgarh local market and neighboring districts for sandals.
” “Sandal costs around Rs 30-35, and sold with Rs 60 and above, generate good profits for women shg related to the project,” Mishra said.
“Women make certain types of footwear according to the needs of the region and their people,” he added.
More and more rural women are interested in this company from making footwear.
Many do orders for the machine needed for that purpose.
In addition, the demand for local brands of footwear soared on the ‘Haat’ day (street markets arranged on weekdays).
UPSRLM officials said that training for feet was part of the goal of the authorities to create jobs and empower women in villages.
“After training, they (women) will be able to make footwear not only to meet their own village requirements but also for neighboring Panchayats.
They will soon produce products for the public market too,” said an official.
Women’s group ordered raw materials from various cities to make sandals.
At the end of each month, more than 500 areready sandals for sale.
Each sandal is expected to be priced at Rs 65 or 70, and women get a good profit margin.
Initially, we had planned to sell products in the local market in Pratapgarh Regency before fanning to other places slowly, “said an official, added that they had also decided to sell footwear at low prices so that every individual can do it.
“We follow the local model by forming a small cluster of people and train them to be financially independent,” said Mishra.
“We help them in the whole process, from shopping for raw materials to skills training, after that we have a market relationship to sell these products Of course.
